Im feeling lucky but still freaked out

I got hit by a bus yesterday at about 5:20pm comming along Kent Terrace (Wellington, NZ) on my bike on my way to my second Job.
I am always very careful on my bike and am aware that buses are bad drivers and swerve in front of you and try and cut you off all the time and I generally try to keep well away from them. But this bus came up from behind me and then fully side swiped me. What went through my head at this point when I was being thrown from my bike was not pleasent, I guess at times like this the worst possible things go through your head and mine was being caught under the rear of the bus, I thought I was gonna go down bad. Fortunatly I got away with only slightly bung legs and a few scratches.
There were plenty of people that saw what happened and I got asked if I was ok etc I was also supprised that the bus stopped and the driver came over to me to which he told me that he hadn't even seen me and then went on to say that there wasn't enough room on the road anyway.
Well I am feeling very lucky today and still quite freaked out about riding my bike on the road, I am still sore but I am also angry and will be fully complaining about this to the bus company

I think you should seek medical attention for your back problem.
Followed by a limp over to your attorneys office.

At least that's the way it's done in the states................

May not fully be the drivers fault, though. Some of these buses are designed so the driver can't see a thing on his left (that's for right hand drive, BTW, for those who drive on the wrong side ) if it's past his door.

We had some complaints by bus drivers here about some of the bus designs that they were forced to drive, and some of the bus companies heeded them and made sure the drivers where happy with their buses.

But still doesn't help poor Vert, anyway. Glad you didn't get banged up too bad, mate. A complaint is essential to make sure the bus companies know what is happening. A police report should also be files to allow accident investigation stats to be compiled.

Complaining often is the only way to ensure incidents don't recur.

Cheers

The only reason i said "You going to sue?"

Is my next door neighbour is 16 and a half and on his learners. He drives around in his brand new subaru wrx with his 4,000 dollar stereo system because he sued a guy who hit him while he was parked.

Might be a bit of a conpensation for your sore back. Go see a doc

Dont know if we can sue in New Zealand, but I am just about to contact the bus Company and will be following that up with a call to the traffic department.

VERT,

You've got to cover all your bets, so to speak. There's no telling how this accident will effect you down the road. It could be days before you start feeling the ill effects of the accident! I think you should go to the nearest medical facility and have yourself checked out completely and send the bill to the bus company. Just cover your butt!!!!!
