Why innocent people confess

A really good piece on the subject by Michael Kinsley in Slate.

Interesting article .. though abit scary .. I could never do this, confess to a crime I didn't commit. Even if it meant I might get 10 years when I could plea-bargin and get 3.

There was a really good show, I think it was an episode of "The Practice" with the guy from Roc in it, he was at his probation hearing and basically if he confessed to this murder they would grant him probation and his family was there begging him to do it, but he couldn't. He knew he hadn't killed anyone and he was imprisoned falsely, and he would never lie about it or confess to something he didn't do. Very good.
