Need some book suggestions.
I need a new book to read. Im open to new things but I tend to stick with fantasy, fiction, or horror (Brian Lumley).
Here's a list of my fav books so far to give you an idea of what I like. I highly suggest these btw if anyone is up to read them. They are fantastic.
Brian Lumley Books: Necroscope series books 1-5
Tad Williams: To Green Angel Tower Series
Weiss & Hickman: Dragonlance series
Tom Clancy and some other guy: Op Center
Richard Adams: Watership Down (excellent!!)
Brian Jacques: Redwall, Mattimeo, The Bellmaker, Martin the Warrior, and several others.
Length doesn't matter so dont be stingy!!! thanks for suggestions

I liked Tom Clancy's Net Force quite a bit!
I also noted you mention Richard Adams who by chance shares the last name of Douglas Adams, writer of "The Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy" which is a very funny sci-fi book. I figure even a last name is reason enought to suggest douglas adams! It's my favorite book (well its the whole series put into one big book It had me laughing my socks off the whole way through till the end were I was very depressed since I had got to know all the characters so well. I had to read the book again so I could have all the adventures again and be with my friends!

Here are a few suggestions:
The Clan Of the Cave Bear series
The Mage Wars, The Last Herald Mage, Vows and Honor, Kerowyn's Tale, The Haralds of Valdemar, The Mage Winds, and The Mage Storms are all series written by Mercedes Lackey about the land of Valdemar, great Sci_Fantasy reading here.........

Why not read Stephen King if you like a bit of horror. My fav author!!
Combine a bit of fantasy with horror and read his Dark Tower series (Roland Of Gilead the main character is my avatar, thanks to Knothead! ). There is a whole, as yet incomplete, series, beginning with The Dark Tower Volume 1: The Gunslinger.
It's a great read!!!
Cheers

if you like horror mixed w/ scifi then read some of the stories by HP Lovecraft. these stories were all written in the 1920's and 30's. they are not some stupid "the big green monster was chasing him" they are very well written and the plots are very interesting. give it a shot!
ps. i reccommend Shadow over Innsmouth, At the Mountains of Madness, and Pickmans Model just to get you started.

And some interesting but not that well know historical fantasy series' have been written by Stephen Lawhead.
Try The Celtic Crusades, or even The Pendragon Cycle. The Song of Albion series is probably his most famous.
My favourite is The Dragon King saga - three books of fantasy adventure at it's best!!
Cheers

Check out Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, starting with The Color of Magic. Uproariously funny fantasy/satire series. (Major premise: the world is flat, and is supported by four elephants standing on the back of a giant tortoise swimming slowly through space. Minor premise: magic abounds. Basic theme: anything is a subject for devastating parody, including journalism, movies, politics, religion, death, sword-and-sorcery novels, large cities, small towns, pet breeders...)

I agree with cracked, lots of H.P.Lovercraft stuff is cool if you like old school horror with a touch of sci-fi in places. Call of Cthulhu is probably one of his more famous works, but I like Shadow over Innsmouth.
Jon Courtney Grimwood has written some good cyber-punk stuff, including Red Robe & Pashazade. Some other classic cyber punk thats worth a read includes Neuromancer by William Gibson and The Difference Engine (co written with Gibson).
If you have any interest in crypto, WWII, data comms or just like a good read then you could do worse than checkout Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson. The story is split into two main threads, one covering the effort to break axis encryption during the Second World War and the other based around setting up a modern day data haven in the east. He also wrote Snowcrash which is more traditional cyberpunk novel, smiliar to some of Gibsons work.
If you prefer full on Sci-Fi then anything by Isaac Asimov is usually interesting & the "Gap Into...." series by Stephen Donaldson was not a bad read.
Regards
