Woohoo, better get some UPS' and a generator, it's gonna be very dark here. Brown outs are expected from lack of "clean Energy" all coal plants will have to shut down or reduce production, maybe if they build new nuke plants, and set up a couple hundred thousand windmills......

This was a stupid bill that shouldn't have been passed until some actions were taken to reduce emmissions from power plants, (btw. that's why alberta is against it.)

Hopefully it'll force companies such as OPG to retire such poor, unhealthy, outdated technologies with new forms of production, such as wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass.

I've still got some 60 odd years left on this planet. I'd rather it be a somewhat healthier place, cause I'm getting sick of the smog days in July and August.

Hey at least the US wised up and withdrew its support of Kyoto. The push by other countries to try and pressure us to "come to our senses" and ratify it anyway is just an attempt to trick us into destroying the American economy. The United States has one of the best, if not the best, environmental policies in the world. And now I've even noticed businesses interested in going beyond regulations to push toward more strict pollution controls. Indiana has recently had the regulations on clean air scaled back a bit because of the progress made since the passing of the Clean Air Act.

But NIPSCO, the utility I pay to get my gas and electric, is going ahead with plans to install better equipment and surpass the expectations of the EPA. Albeit, they have probably realized they can be more profitable with the new equipment, at least they're still taking steps to ensure that the amount of pollution discharged from their plants is going down.

I guess this treaty would be good to implement in some countries, especially China, but I certainly hope that the standards set into place by the agreement do not cost so much that they hamper economic growth to the point that it cripples the countries that attempt to adopt the new policy.
