I use binoculars regularly and have to admit that I've raised them up with lens caps in place as well. If he looked for more than a few moments without removing them... then I might worry.

He went through the WHOLE Military Excercise that way! He nodded his head, made acknowledging comments and "sounds" and was later presented with this pic.

For Real! I wouldnt make this up, now would I?

For once, the other forum I visit (it is for the sports figure collectibles I collect) beat us to the punch on this one. Here's a reply from that thread:

"By twtthomas:
I am glad everyone finds this funny because I do too... however in a different way.

I find it funny that what appears to be a set of normal binoculars with the lense covers still on in the daylight is actually a set of very high-speed gyro-stabilized night-vision binoculars with daylight filters in place. Funny huh?

These things are not only able to see in the dark with almost zero natural light, but also will stabilize the image from even the slightest motion to include the shaking normally caused by adrenaline. Very useful on the battlefield.
The daylight filters (lense caps with very tiny holes) allow the bino's to be used during daylight so the soldier doesn't need two pairs of bino's."

Ahhhh... Jokes on us! LOL. If ya look closely, you can see two little holes in each lens cap... I think!

Thanks Dave.

Even pictures don't always tell the whole story, huh?

We believe what we think we know we see. Anything outside our understanding/comprehension is usually ignoredor altered to fit our comprehension.

It's human nature.

U.S. Army Gen. Thomas Schwartz (R) ---
(R) ?? Guessing not republican lol (military isn't associated with parties too much is it?)

I'd think retired, but he's still wearing his BDU's so doubting that one too...

Never heard of him either hehe.. have to look into it
I thought shinseki and keane were the only 4 stars right now?
Maybe schwartz recently retired
