It is my personal experience that smoking does infact cause your physical health to drop. It destroys your lungs. They rot away. I feel enourmous differences now that I quit for good instead of smoking only at parties and stuff. I feel alot healthier now.

I think it does make an impact on your body. That's one of the reasons I quit. I don't want to pay tobacco companies to put poison in me. I'll leave that to manufacturers of alcohol. Oh and to almost every source of food I put in my body...

I smoked for 27 years. After the first couple of weeks without cigarettes I was starting to feel a little better.
Four years after I had quit I was diagnosed with chronic lung disease and diabetes type ll. Also, circulatory problems and now I have great difficulty walking. I will probaly be in a wheelchair within 6 months from now.
My doctors have assured me that all of health problems can be attributed to my history of smoking. Sad.
Now my family faces an uncertain future. I feel like smoking was a very selfish habit for me to have. The doctors also tell me that I won't live to a ripe old age.
If this isn't reason enough for a smoker to stop, I don't know what is. It isn't pretty but, it fact.

I'm not sure if it's dangerous or not.

Both my grandparents have been smoking since the age of 15
they are now 78 and in perfect health. They both lived in the country for almost 60years before moving to stockholm.

Maybe there are other factors, like polution etc that are the real danger, or maybe a combination of both.

Interesting link, Theo. I sure wish the current "anti-smoking" vogue had been in flower in 1970.

Back then, smoking was real cool.

Birddog, thank you for telling us about that.... I wish you well, buddy.
