Kids Any Collectors out there?

The other day at work this guy came up to me with some Star Wars action figure and asked me a strange question about it. I looked at the cover and it said "Tusken Raider with Massif" (Massif being the weird dog creature from the films), but the strange thing was that this box was completely sealed, but the dog was missing. I thought it might be some random error at the factory so I bought it. Here's a pic. Any ideas if buying it was a good idea? Any freaks out there go crazy for stuff like this?

Not sure if it was a good buy or not. Factory defects ( such as double stamped coins etc ) are usually worth more than a perfect specimen, but not always ( misalignment of the cut on trading cards for example ). You could always check Ebay!

That link to Ebay is a direct link to Tusken Raider toys currently on sale at ebay. Thought you might want to sift through them and see what they are going for.

I agree usually the abnormal making it to the hands of a collector is very rare. I'm sure in time this will be worth what you put in it

I would have bought it

I collect McFarlane SportsPick baseball, football and hockey figures. As for errors, there is a definite market for them. It is believed that in the long run, they don't hold value as well as other items, but that is in a different arena (the sports figures). I am not sure about Star Wars. Since there are so many Star Wars figures being produced, this actually may be the only or one of a few items that might be of value. Again, I am not sure. I have a friend who has thousands of dollars pass through him each month for Star Wars collectibles from the 70s. He told me to stay away from the new stuff unless you just enjoy it b/c the overproduction will mean that this stuff will be like 1980's baseball cards...worth very, very little... I really enjoy the sports stuff, so I decided to collect it anyway.

Good luck with your collection and I hope this one was worth the buy.
Dave
