You guys want to own up and explain to your fellow TechIMO'ers why you felt the need to be stupid punks? I'll leave it up to your peers as to whether your bans are permanent.
Well guys what do you think? Doesn't everyone deserve a second chance? Terms are negotiable. And I've never thought of either as a "punk". Stupid...well...

From an outsider POV it looks like a practical joke that got out of hand. If that's the case then I think an apology is due. A perm ban is a bit harsh. But I don't know all of the details.

If whatever they did was a deliberate attempt to sabotage the community then they don't deserve a second chance.

Wart's a big boy and soon to be in the Army, he's been here a long time and was at our "Old Home" before that.

He knows the rules, he knows how to get the "Banned" removed.

The choice is his.

I've always enjoyed reading Wart's comments, as well as Brandon's, but . . . . .

I've always known Scott to be fair, AND (with rare exception) ALL the moderators have been more than fair.

I would like to see Wart back, (and Brandon), but if one/both of them was trying to back stab Fingers . . . . . . . I think the decision to lift the "Banned" should come from Fingers request to Scott!

So, the decision is Wart's and Brandon's! (They have to take the first step, and they know what/how to do it!)

My only concern is the mimicked "martyrdom" that can occur among the young and somewhat rebellious/immature attitudes... I saw/see that with the "Mike" avatars. It can create an US against Them (whoever us and them are???) attitude and I really think that is where this Prank Stemmed from. What the young peeps dont realize is, although they may think they are being harmless and only SmartA$$es, some real damage can be the result of such stints. But those of us who realize that, often are viewed as "BadGuys" to the young "adult" world. In my World/Adult World of Consequence, suggesting Racial or Sexist motives seriously harms the accused in a Profressional and sometimes Personal way that can follow an individual for the rest of their Career- whether true or not, it can become a label. TIMO is not different, an outsider, any outsider from any organization, could read such an accusation and founded or not, the speculation exists.... and could continue to exist. Futher, IMO, the character Name and Persona created by the youths suggests to me that they have disproportioned racial views of their own... although they will probably strongly disagree with this.

I say if they do apologize, let the Youth back- this is part of THEIR and others learning curve and good can be salvaged from a distasteful situation.

But Gents (this includes the two in question and others who thought they were fighting the "cause"), Remeber- Scott, Fingers, Surreal, KenKun, DaveLeau and other Higher Level Members of TIMO are not the Establishment (read BigGov or Whatever else some call NegativeLargeEntities)... this is not the good fight or challenge... it is a QualityForum, one of privileges, not rights. Practice humility and maturity- and come out the better. Learn.

EDIT: If this was a personal attack against Fingers, both need to also continue to learn that some may not always agree with or like the method of the AuthorityFigures, but as long as they are consistent with the established and accepted rules- you still have to Respect the Figures. It is this way in School, Work, Play... Life.

Excellent post Mortis! ''

IMO, the TIMO establishment IS the members! Scott has made that clear on several occassions. WE have always been proud of policing OURSELVES! It has been US, the members who have kept TIMO a place of quality. Scott and crew only placed a few guidelines to follow and are watching to maintain the quality WE want/desire.

I have no sympathy for them. They are both old enough and have been members here long enough to know the difference between right and wrong.

If this was a simple practical joke that got out of hand, then why didnt they stop it once Juanita was warned? How about when she was banned? Why the accusations of racism? Why give Scott and the mods such grief? Why stir up so much crap with the members? They had plenty of opportunitys to stop it. They didn't. This is no joke.

If this was a learning curve for them, then what would they learn by lifting the ban? "Oh yea, I can do bad things and be forgiven with an apology that I can hide behind my computer screen when I write it."

My vote - Warty a 6th month ban after an apology. Brandon maybe after a year, if ever....

My opinion of course...

I favor the maximum amount of free speech, and generally I support letting people have another chance. I even thought Vanguarde deserved a break. (Turned out I was wrong.)

On the other hand, there seems to have been a bit of personal malice involved here.

This is a community; bad behavior is generally self-punishing.

I'll abstain from voting.

They both are smart enough to know what they are and were doing.

Isn't this beyond the 2nd chance anyway?

I have no intention of starting a flame war or otherwise degrade others. So I'll just leave it at...

The ban should stay in effect.

Sorry you made that choice Wart.

This is america. We need a trial. You can not convict them until after a trial. Even if they confessed or irrefutable evidence is dredged up they deserve a trial and a poll of their piers after it.
