Despite a drumbeat of news reports about the restrictions and the boost in screening intensity, in the eight months from February to September, screeners nationwide seized 813 firearms, 783,670 knives and 31,064 boxcutters from passengers.

My wife forgot her nail scissors; they were confiscated at BWI when she flew out to Austin to visit her daughter. Now she's got to buy a new pair. Fortunately, her brooch with the 4-inch pinback was not considered a weapon.
Good thing she wasn't packing her brick, though.

Other than terrorists, what purpose would anyone have to carry box cutters aboard an airplane?

jman01pa. My mom does needle point to pass the time and as a mini knife on her key chain for cutting threads and opening boxes at the sewing shop she works at. She can no longer cary this with her on the plane to do needle point or a pair of mini scissiors so now she just tries to sleep. Im not saying I am mad about this... Im happy that we are safer. so yeah.... go protection laws

Why confiscate a brick? maybe it had sentimental value That is a lot of boxcutters, luckily they didn't take my knife but I haven't flown since 9/11 (not for any resaon related, just no where to go ) But apparently you cant even have a nailfile with you, but in the name of security all is well I think, (until they as you to fly naked because you could strangle someone with your pants.)
