Buying stuff online

I'm building a computer for the first time for a friend. I usually buy stuff from the local stores but I save almost $600 by buying stuff online. I LOVE using pricewatch.com! Almost every part I choose from pricewatch, comes from a different online retailer. How reputable are these sites? How do I know that they won't take my credit card number and run? I'm just a person who really worries a lot.

Thanks a lot.

IMO, they aren't reputable.

www.mwave.com
www.newegg.com
www.buy.com

^^Some good ones.

You are SOL if those parts bust on you or there is a prob.

newegg.com is really good. Some of the sites you get referred to by pricewatch are very unresponsive on phone, rude, have very high shipping or simply say the part is out of stock and offer something else.

I think it's better to pay 10-15% more at newegg and have peace of mind.

Agreed with Surreal, Resellerratings.com is where you want to check with dealers. You'll find that most everybody trusts newegg and they are very fast for delivery

(psssst.. shouldn't this be in the buyers forum? )

also I like www.directron.com

Be careful who you order from. You need to find a good combination of price and customer service in an online vendor.

Thanks so much for this www.resellerratings.com link! This site is great. All of the sites I liked had 8-9 ratings.

Phew, big load off of my back.

Thanks

Send a message via AIM to Blood_Luster
It's a great site because it's run by the same people at TechIMO
