Techimo was established with carry over members from that 'other' unmentioned site.

Oh I know that, me being one of them. But most of us that migrated have October 2001 as our join date.

Those are people who registered on ResellerRatings and were added to the TechIMO database when Scott re-acquired it. If you look at the member number of that guy, you can see he is in the 30,000s.

As I recall, Scott started using members' old registration date along with the post count. Very few were done, as it got out of hand too quickly to keep up - heck, somewhere around 500 members joined / migrated within the first day or two!!
Something's changed, though. If you look at the member roll by date joined, there's a TON that predate the site's existance. Maybe the userlist from ResellerRatings was imported using the original dates?

Yep, very few were done. These were done by hand and then later Scott et al. set up a macro to change a bunch of members' numbers to their respective PC from the old site.
