Does Fatburner actually work?

I was at the gym the other day (I am a member of CFF - California Family Fitness) and talking to this guy that was huge..6'2" not sure how much he weighed, but he was big...
He told me he took some fat burner/muscle builder (Something like Creatine) and that helped when he started training.

I got to thinking and wondered if that actually worked. Or if he just was taking all that stuff for no reason at all.

Creatine works by drawing water into your muscles and keeping it there which is needed to build your muscles or something like that... most doctors dont like anything that is chemical and screws with the natural processes... but to answer your question... it does seem to help if taken properly and with a good workout... as for fat burners... maybe you are thinking of Ephedra? (sp?) seems to get good results but I have heard a lot of bad things about it in general.

Fat Burners do usually work if used correctly...but we have to define "work"...if youre eating 4 cheeseburgers a day fatburners aint gonna do much....but if you are trying to lose weight thru exercise and good eating habits, then fatburners can help you along a little bit.

best not to take them continously....take for 3 weeks or so and then off for a week or two.

Some peeps (me) get really "edgy" feeling and/or lightheaded when taking them.

I was taking some back in 2000...supposed to take em before a meal if I remember right....anyway, I was racing BMX bikes at the time....drove 45 miles to go to the bmx track...did my gate and first straightaway practice for a couple hours...ate a little bag of popcorn on the way home...(no food on stomach...strenuous exercise= low blood sugar..thin blood)...got home...took 4 fatburners...got online...next thing I know I was sitting out on my 3rd floor balcony wondering what the heck was going on....I was dazed and confused...it was like 2 am or something...evidently the low blood sugar from not eating combined with the further blood-thinng effects of the fatburners made me "blackout". It was freaky....earlier that day this girl had given me her name and phone# on a piece of paper and I found it and was looking at it...had NO CLUE what it was lol. Walked around in a daze for a while trying to figure out what was going on...went back out to my balcony trying to retrace what was happening...looked over the balcony to the parking lot below....saw my spongemop laying on the ground by a car...hmmm....looked again and noticed that the car had a broken windshield!! I have no clue what happened...total blackout memory loss etc.

Went back to the comp and looked at what I evidently last typed before blacking out...it was gibberish in the middle of a sentance like this..."so anyway, the milkman said to the jhutyhrbegtdrfewvcn"

(yes I put a note on the car and found out whose it was and paid their $100 insurance deductible)

Anyway, I haven't taken any fatburners since then hehe.

It's what you eat, not necessarily how much you eat in getting rid of the fat. A simple method is just cut out the red meat, fried foods, and fatty stuff in your diet. The food will be a little more bland. But you'd be surprised how much you can eat.

But the trick is learning to eat a little more bland. You'd be surprised how many plain baked potatoes you can eat without gaining weight. It's a diet that can be supported even after you lose the weight.

Skywalker,

Isn't Epherin some combo of caffiene and antihistamine ? ish,

O/C ing a comp is one thing, O/C ing a human is not so good.

IMHO

Well I don't know if the fat burners work or not, but think long term. What about the heart, anything that brings up your heart rate artificially can't be good for ya, and drawing water into the muscles, this is supposed to be done naturally. I think anything that isn't natural can't be good for ya, just my .02
Watch the diet, get plenty of exercise, and drink lots of water,my moms dietician says 32-40 oz a day, and it'll wash the fat cells away naturally

Here's some info on Ephedrine.
Linkage

I used to use it when I was wrestling in highschool. I can do some pretty crazy stuff. Mind you, I was also wearing a garbage bag underneath trackpants, t-shirt, sweater, toque, gloves, and a jacket while doing cardio work.

Ephedra, very baaad. 5 balanced meals a day, very goood!! The whole idea is to get your body used to burning the food that you intake. If you only eat 2 or 3 meals a day and eat a bunch, your body tends to store the food you eat. By eating 5 or 6 small meals a day, your body starts burning the food that you intake, instead of storing it. Also, remember to exercise at least 3 times a week.

As for Ephedra, If you are going to take it, don't take it for an extended period of time. Also, don't take it if you have high blood pressure or heart problems.

Good diet, lots of water, and exercise. The safest combo to date!
