Talk My new weapon!!

I've been a bit scarce around here, and may continue to be. Been working on getting this axe home for 3 moths now. It came home today :-)

My New Guitar!

TOm, that is a nice guitar. I'd hate to get it dirty playing it.

That is really nice. Thinkin' about the moolah you must've forked over for it is scary!

Musical stuff is so expensive.

Right now I'm looking at an Echo Layla 24 sound card. It's a steal at $4OO. Comes with Cubasis. Ought to work with the Q10...

Too bad you're so far away, Tom.

Thanks guys If this thing was any cooler, I'd suddenly find myself at 80 years old, weighing 300 pounds, wearing a tuxedo and calling myself B. B.

BC, per your question on the pic page, the body is made of curly maple, with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. The one to its left is an Illinois-made Hamer, 1994 vintage, curly maple top, mahogany back and neck, rosewood fingerboard. The guy to the right is also an Illinois Hamer, 1995. Swamp ash body and figured maple neck. This thing will send any modern Fender Telecaster home with it's tail between its legs.

Prexapes, I've been using the venerable Gadget Labs 8/24 in my rig, but they're out of business I passed on the Echo Layla at the time I got the Gadget because it wouldn't play nice with AMD-based systems.

Now I'm in a bit of a pickle, since I'd like to upgrade the OS on my audio machine, but there's no drivers past Win98SE for the Gadget Labs, and my next choice, the Layla, doesn't play nice w/ AMD (or does it????). My next choice would be some of the MOTU stuff and that's definitely Intel-only territory. Any experience with this?

Brad, I shot Knot a PM with a link to it

Thanks, Rusty! This one is made in the old Gibson factory by the old Gibson guys, the ones who made the original ES-335's. Doesn't get much better than that for a pedigree

BC, a good, serviceable axe, that Epi My sentimental favorite guitar, the one I wouldn't part with for anything, is an Epi Flat-top acoustic, again with curly maple back and sides (the one that started my figured maple kick ). The doggone thing has been through all my ups and downs with me for over 30 years and it looks like it, too!

One of the acoustics I perform with pretty regularly is an Epi Jeff "Skunk" Baxter model that I had doctored up a bit. A terrific performing axe that I'm proud to own, especially since Skunk is sort of a personal hero.

Cool guitar thread??? That's what I get for not being around here much lately. So many guitars, so little time
