In this issue, in a P. J. O'Rourke piece, two wonderful quotes from Henry Adams: "Practical politics consist in ignoring facts", and "The Senate is much given to admiring in its members a superiority less obvious or quite invisible to outsiders."

They refer to each other as "The Distinguished Gentleman" when most of them are neither distinguished nor a gentleman.
