Fat kids sue McDonald's

http://www.cnn.com/2002/LAW/11/21/fa....ap/index.html

Where did all that talk of Tort Reform go? This is just getting silly.

I say if there's any suing to be done here our healthcare system should sue the parents of fat kids. Parents let their kids get fat and our healthcare system bares the cost. I can't tell you how many times I've seen fat parents walking fat kids around in the store, each eating a big iceceam cone, while they load their cart up with cookies, twinkies, sodas and other fat food. Next we'll have drunk drivers suing the alcohol companies.

Another is a 13-year-old boy from Staten Island who says he ate at McDonald's food three to four times a week and is now 5-foot-4 and 278 pounds.
yes.... someone held a gun to those kids heads and MADE them eat at Mc Donalds. The parents who are allowing this is bs. All this is teaching kids is not takening responisblity for there actions.

I seriously hope they lose. if they don't lose i have lost all faith in our law systems.

Whats next,
"Down South, Bubba called his attorney and asked, "Is it true they're
suing the cigarette companies for causing people to get cancer?"

"Yes, Bubba, sure is true." responded the lawyer.

"And now someone is suing the fast food restaurants for making them fat
and clogging their arteries with all them burgers and fries, is that
true mister lawyer?"

"Sure is Bubba. But why you asking?"

"Cause what I want to know is, I was thinkin', can I sue Budweiser for
all the ugly women I've slept with".

so maybe I should sue the candy makers because they give me cavities

wth is wrong with this country? First of all, you could sue anyone for making you fat. If you eat and eat and eat of course you're gonna get fat. That's why nutrient facts are posted on foods today

My guess is these kids didn't survive on a diet of happy meals alone. And the other stuff they ate was much worse. If this case doesn't get thrown out then this country is definitely going down the crapper.

Epidemic's Torte reform would limit personal recovery to medical and up to 1 million with inflation adjustments pain and suffering. On top of that reasonable lawyers fees of about 100,000 per year of preparation. Punitive damages can be levied but the resulting proceeds are to be used for charity. On top of these penalties the CEO and anyone involved in the negligence will be fired depending on their involvement and their golden parachute can be deflated. The decision makers in a bad deal should be the ones who pay not the workers.

Now that is reasonable. You are payed for your loss. The lawyers still make a reasonable fee. And in some cases the company can be fined beyond recoverable damages but not to the benefit of one or a few individuals. No more lottery.

On the way way way more light note take a ride on the link express.

this is as funny as this latigious society is becoming.
