My daughters project.

I even let her help.

She is 8 and she was using the scroll saw, belt sander and bandsaw. That band saw scares me with her but I guided her.

The final product can be viewed here.

Forged paperclip horseshoes
Forged chisle
Even made the **** and trigger guard out of paper clips and some fire cherry red firing.

the bellows even works.

Perhaps I will let her look at it tomarrow.

whatcha think bout the flintlock.

the thing is only about 1.8 inches long. the chisle was like trying to use a bull dozer to plant daisies when cutting the channel for the barrel.

I was going to harden the striker and make it work.

But seriously, what pisses me off is that my wife informed me that we will have to get the priciples permission to bring it to school.

Under the "0 tolerance" rules.

A wooden model of a gun constitutes a gun in the school.

Now I have no problem with rules that make sense but this
is rediculous. WTF is she going to do with a little wooden gun.
Heck her pencil is more dangerous. perhaps they should just get
crayons. Ooops I better not say that too loud or they might go that way.

0 tolerance rules include finger pointing in a gun like manner, di cast models, pictures drawn by the kids and god knows what else.

I could understand the no gun rule if it applied to real deal but this gets rediculous.

Like the kids who get kicked out of school for dealing pamprin or aspirin. Dumb.

Maybe she can disguise the gun as a doll or a crayon and sneek it in.

"hear ye, hear ye! hence and anon, pencils are outlawed in school. It has been brought to our attention that pencils are more dangerous than small wooden models of guns - therefore under the auspices of protecting the youth of the nation, pencils will officially be replaced by crayons.

However, only non-toxic crayons are allowed, as other crayons represent a chemical weapon. Further, no crayon which utilizes red dye #5 may be used or carried. This falls under the gudelines of the no tolerance ban of red M&Ms.

In addition, this rule also applies to pens - as the pen is mightier than the sword."

(BTW - nice job, Ep ... errr Ep's daughter! )

All hard cover books will now be replaced and papers edges will be blunted (ya know paper cuts) All marble and wood floors will now have padded carpet 18 inches thick to avoid injury. rug burns will be avoided with knee pads. Walls will be covered by 4 inches of corkboard and all stairs will be replaced with ramps.

The child safety act is now in effect.

School busses will have custom fitted bladders covering the children to restain their movement and to completely make them safe from any imaginable injury. Kids will be strip searched to make sure they are not carrying pencils or sharpened paper and other such contriban.
