Recently I have had to hand in a number of reports for my degree and most if not all had many grammatical errors. Now being science based I never put much effort into my grammar especially when I write it, but having my English corrected by someone from another country is a bad state of affairs. Not that I have anything against them being better at English than me, it is rather the fact that I have spent all my life and a long number of years studying and speaking this language and I still cant seem to do it write.
So I have come upon a solution to my problem. Rather than trying to improve my traditional English I am going to revise the English language to make it more efficient. My reasons for this being that if I developed my own language it would look good on a CV (worked for Tolkien) and that recently I have noticed such a language called US English, so if someone else has done it so can I.
Firstly I will remove the words that sound the same but are spelt and mean different things. For example there and their; where were and wear. It may seem that we need them but we dont and I'll show you why. The different meaning of each word can be expressed by the context in which it is put. Eg. What clothes will I wear? You could put any of the above three to replace wear and your meaning would be understood due to the context of the sentence.
Secondly, Tense. You need only one tense, Present. That means that you can remove past and future tenses. For example, 'Yesterday, I went to the shops' or 'Tomorrrow, I am going to the shops'. Yesterday and Tomorrow have already indicated that it is past or future so you could replace both 'went' and 'am going' with go (the present tense). Now I appreciate that remove tenses may be difficult as in alot of cases it will require some restructuring of our sentences and the fact that it seems funny, but in the long run it will be worth it.
So join me with some suggestions and get your name in the credits of being an author of a language.
