All the braggin I have done on this forum about being in the Navy for almost 12 years and
NEVER setting foot on a ship, that's all about to change. Some may know, that I am active duty. But I am in the TAR program. As a TAR, our main goal is to train the reservists in their jobs. Well, all of our reservists got recalled to active duty for a one year period. This is the first time since the Korean War that a Strike Reserve Squadron has been recalled to active duty. We are going to do a full cruise with the regular Navy. We are the talk throughout the whole Navy. It's even in the Press. If you are in the TX area as some are, you may already have heard about this.
It is culture shock for some and hard to accept for others. It's doing big favors for some and it's causing problems for others. We pulled them away from their everyday civilian lives, families, and jobs. Luckily we will be home for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. There are plenty of military ppl that will not be home for any of the above.
And yes to be honest, I was hoping for a career in the Navy and not have been tot sea ever. The way things were going it was an achievable goal. But not anymore.
I should have combined this with the send a thank you note thread I started. Oh well, this is the Community.
