I vote for JVC. I have a friend with a JVC bigscreen and it is great quality wise.
I can't offer anything but opinion sorry

I would get the JVC

S-video gives a much better picture than standard RCA cables.

S Video can be very important, especially with DVD players since most have only RCA and SVideo connections. I had to get an RF modulator to convert my coaxial to SVideo for my DVD set top player and that was an extra $30 I could have spent on a better TV (dummy!).

Nice sets! I don't know enough to tell you which is better, though. Sorry. here's a pic of my tv: http://www.rosevillehistorical.org/images/jpg's/Old%20TV.jpg

Have a good one Vagabond. I hope the docs up there are treating you good, doc.

Component video inputs are better than S-video. Most decent DVD players offer Component video outputs.

From the above link...

Quote:
Cable/antenna, or radio frequency inputs are the most basic; the next step up is composite video. An S-video input jack lets you take advantage of the superior picture quality from a satellite-dish system, a DVD player, or a digital camcorder. Component video input offers even better quality but is useful only with equipment that comes with component outputs, such as some DVD players

I own a big Mitsu (45 or 50, haven't measured it lately-lol), I've heard talk that it's hard to work on.

I just go hit the side and it straightens out, I think it's scared of me.

call ur local repair shop and ask their opinion......

(my ol jvc was a beauty) I vote JVC....

I would not purchase a new TV without it!
Mine uses both and I do at times and the quality of the s video vs the jacks is really noticable.
