Dumb bit in a movie (Unbreakable)

ok in Unbreakable when it is showing Elijah (samuel l jackson) in his early days where his mum puts a present outside for him, and he goes to get it...

he opens the present, sees its a comic book, his mum says something along the lines of:

"I bought a whole bunch of 'em, there'll be one waiting for you whenever you feel like going outside...they say this one has a surprise ending"

OH WAY TO GO MUM, JUST SPOIL IT.
Say he was just expecting a run-of-the-mill ending, the surprise would have been lovely, or even YAY. but no, it's no surprise anymore, he'll be reading through and approaching the end...knowing that there will be a surprise, thus negating the "surprise" part of the "surprise ending"

I predicted that whole movie while watching it. Though I do that alot for movies. Might be a nac of mine... or it's just that movies these days arn't what they used to be in my time.(hehe)
