I'm sick but I'm not sure if it's the flu!

I've been sick and running a fever for going on 11 days, my only symptoms up until last night were a fever that ran between 99-102 degrees, aches in my neck and back, weakness, and headache.

I've been to the doctor once and to the emergency room once also I've felt so bad, and about 3 days ago I developed a swollen painful lymphnode on the back of neck, and last night throughout today terrible stomach pains and the runs and vomiting.

I've never been this sick with the flu for so long I've seen two different doctors and they both just look at me take my temp. and say "Oh you have the flu, take some asprin and drink fluids and you'll get better."

I've missed too much work already and going on day 12 I still feel like crap and am running a temp between 100-102 degrees even after taking Mortin or Tylenol like my doc. told me too. I need to get back to work and I need to know what's wrong with me so I can fix it. Doc already ruled out Mono and Meningitus. If I'm still sick tommotrrow I'm going to see another doctor.

Most of the time I get the flu and it's gone in 5 days to a full week but to weeks is ridiculous, is there some super flu this season I need to know about?

Go back to the doc and demand more than just a cursory glance by him.

Sounds awful! Has the doctor considered that you might have developed a secondary (i.e. bacterial) infection, and that consequently you might need antibiotics? Good luck tomorrow!

I started the same thing, however my doctor called a prescription of " Z pack" antibiotics and started me on 1000 mg Vitaman C as well as Multi-vitamans( which I have taken all along ) and I only felt bad for a couple of days and was able to go to work. Sounds like you been seeing a couple of DUCKS...Quack, Quack...over and out. Hope you get to feeling better

Aleve will help with swelling and the fever, (sodium naproxen) take 2. It does seem kinda long for a flu, I usually only get it for 2-3 days. I'ld definately recommend seeing another doctor. Also try having a hot bath, it usually helps.

This always helps me:

Cup of hot tea
Teaspoon of honey
Teaspoon of lemon
Shot of Jim Beam

If symptoms persist, make it a double.

If you’re still sick on Monday I’d get your butt back to the doctor.

Scenario #1 : You're 8 months pregnant, and the child has decided to give you a bad time. (Yes, I know you're a man. The scenario still stands.)

Scenario #2: I'm really not too sure... Almost sounds as if you have a bunch of combinations of horrible strains of different sicknesses. .. I definately suggest going back to the Doctor.
