this one really pised me off for a while.... I could never figure it out, but then I was informed that the bottom triangle hypotenuse bows slightly outward and the top triangle hyp. bows slightly inward. Enough to account for an entire block worth of space in the end

Ahh this is easy................Because nothing is the same once you change it.

In reality the colored sections still take up the same amount of space in either view.
