Mom just got one of them there all in one copier/scanner/printer faxes by hp

It did some cool work I scans at I believe 1200dpi.

I am considering it for myself . Compusa is having a sale today I think they give you 100 bucks for your old printer and you can buy the 150 buck printer with the store credit.

Sounds good for 50 bucks. I have heard about some strange driver and memory problems with the lexmark with XP.

Do any of ya have any input???

My Lexmark (ink and laser) work OK but Lexmark is kinda low end (cheesy) brand.

I'd go for a good Canon as first choice or a good HP. Look into ink prices too. No point buying a $19.99 printer that uses 2 $29.99 cartridges.

Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

They told me that I should get on the order of 4X the efficiency of the lexmark 149 dollar model.

A friends Mom has one---she just got a new Dell P4 setup---HP multimachine wouldnt work and she panicked (she mistakenly loaded the stand alone printer driver) I d/l'd and installed the correct driver for XP and it worked GREAT, I was pretty surprised how well the scans came out---nice machine!...

I bought a Lexmark and it wouldn't even work in Win2k. The hardware looked cheap too.

Well as far as the lexmark not working with XP I know that to be wrong. I have seen several of them hooked to XP home and xp pro. They do suggest an installation proceedure of which I already know I have forgotten which was not intuitive. At least as far as the HP machine multi thingamabob. So far it seems like a nice machine. I copied one of the things probably most people copy first. Did a nice job in fact a bit too good IMO

Do have to admitt they do look cheap but they work. If you get 2 years out of it then I guess it ain't bad. We will probably have replicators on these things by 2004.

I got the Lexmark free at one of those coupon/rebate deals at Officemax. After the ink gets over, I'll throw the printer. My boy says it's a disposable printer. The inks cost $39.95 each for color and B/W.

Talk of ripping off.

But customer is also smart and will jetison the printer and buy a new one for free from them next deal.

Hahahaha

Epidemic, hold on your purchase. I will send you details on free disposable Lexmark soon.

Free Lexmarks ROCK.

I will partially agree with you on this!

I don't know what the specific problem is, but I have worked on several machines, running the full gambit of OS's, and Lexmark's wouldn't work. (And yes, I've also seen them work fine on others! )

Lexmark TS's first response was that it has to be a USB 1.1 cable, a cable meeting USB 2.0 spec's won't work! (As stated before, I did check with 2 different cable manuf. and the only difference in their product was the packaging, since the cable already met the 2.0 spec. )

When I informed Lexmark TS of this, and gave them the name and number of the rep's from the cable Co.'s, they informed me that it was a compatibility problem with the OS.

Let's see then, they are not compatible with W95, W98, W98SE, WME, W2K, or WXP, right? CLICK They hung up on me!! ''

Save money - buy separate scanner and printer.

Save money - buy a laser instead of an inkjet.

You'll get fewer headaches and better quality, too.
