Proper Funeral Attire?
I have to attend a funeral tomorrow, and I'm confused as to what the proper attire is, since I haven't been to a funeral in years.. Fortunately.
A friend of mine is also going to the same funeral, and he says that he's wearing dress pants and a black v-neck sweater, while another friend says that, as far as he knows, dress shirts and ties are a must - which is what I was originally thinking... *shrug*
What do you guys think?

Depends how close you were to the deceased. Casual can be ok if you weren't that close. Anything else would require at least a shirt and tie. Jacket would also be proper.

Yeah, a nice shirt, tie and some dockers should do fine. Man, funerals are depressing |

If anyone was fussing over what to wear to my funeral I'd be pissed. I'd want people to be celebrating my life rather than mourn my death. (I made my sis promise me she'd tie a "Get Well Soon" balloon to my wrist at my funeral.)
Anyway, I think your fine in dockers, and a laid back dress shirt and tie.

I always opt for a respectful dark grey suit, white shirt, dark grey tie.
Basically, buy a nice dark grey suit, and a red-based tie, and grey-based tie. Pulls double duty for funerals, weddings, power lunches, job interviews, etc., just change the tie. You prolly want to shoot for "Secret Service" look, but not the red power tie - save that for the interviews/lunches.

I normally wear a dark pair of pants and a black jacket with a tie.
