Has anyone ever heard of wild animals eating tires? My folks just told me that an animal has been munching on the tires of their car and the cars of their neighbors. The tires all have obvious large teeth marks and have scattered bits of rubber on the ground around the car.
What would cause an animal to do that? They obviously are not eating the rubber or using it for nesting as it's all laying on the ground around the cars. I was thinking there may be an animal with something painful caught in its teeth and it's trying to dislodge it. Or maybe a rabid animal?
Any other ideas/insights?

Do they have a redneck neighbor with a pitbull?? I've seen those guys hang a tire in a tree and let the dog jump to bite it. The dog won't let go for a long time. Maybe one "marked" the tire as his, and the other is trying to kill the mark. I don't know its early and I gotta go to work.
