"It's the Oil, Stupid"
Makes interesting reading:
"It is the Oil, Stupid!" by Joseph Clifford Mr. Joseph Clifford
contributed above article to Media Monitors Network (MMN) from James Town, Rhode Island.
The Russians got into their Vietnam (Afghanistan)
right after US got out of theirs? Isn't that strange?
US supported Bin Laden and the Talibans for years, and viewed them as freedom fighters against the Russians? Isn't that strange?
As late as 1998 the US was paying the salary of every single
Taliban's official in Afghanistan? Isn't that strange?
There is more oil and gas in the Caspian Sea area than in Saudi
Arabia, but you need a pipeline through Afghanistan to get the oil
out. Isn't that strange?
UNOCAL, a giant American Oil conglomerate, wanted to build a 1,000 mile long pipeline from the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan to the Arabian Sea. Isn't that strange?
UNOCAL spent $10,000,000,000 on geological surveys for pipeline construction, and very nicely courted the Talibans for their support in allowing the construction to begin. Isn't that strange?
All of the leading Taliban officials were in Texas negotiating with
UNOCAL in 1998. Isn't that strange?
1998-1999 the Talibans changed its mind and threw UNOCAL out of the country and awarded the pipeline project to a company from Argentina. Isn't that strange?
John Maresca, VP of UNOCAL testified before Congress and said no pipeline until the Talibans was gone and a more friendly government was established. Isn't that strange?
1999-2000 The Talibans became the most evil people in the world. Isn't that strange?
Niaz Naik, a former Pakistani Foreign Secretary, was told by senior American officials in mid-July (2000) that military action against Afghanistan would go ahead by the middle of October (2000). Isn't that strange?
9/11 WTC disaster.
Bush goes to war against Afghanistan even though none of the
hijackers came from Afghanistan. Isn't that strange?
Bush blamed Bin Laden but has never offered any proof saying it's a "secret". Isn't that strange?
Talibans offered to negotiate to turn over Bin Laden if we showed
them come proof. We refused; we bombed. Isn't that strange?
Bush said: "This is not about nation building. It's about getting the terrorists." Isn't that strange?
We have a new government in Afghanistan. Isn't that strange?
The leader of that government formerly worked for UNOCAL (Hamid Karrzai). Isn't that strange?
Bush appoints a special envoy to represent the US to deal with that new government, who formerly was the "chief consultant to UNOCAL" (LakhdarIbrahimi). Isn't that strange?
The Bush family acquired their wealth through oil !! Isn't that
strange?
Bush's Secretary of Interior was the President of an oil company
before going to Washington. Isn't that strange?
George Bush Sr. (Father) now works with the "Carlysle Group"
specializing in huge oil investments around the world. Isn't that
strange?
Condoleezza Rice worked for Chevron before gong to Washington. Isn't that strange?
Chevron named one of its newest "supertankers" after Condoleezza. Isn't that strange?
Dick Cheney worked for the giant oil conglomerate Haliburton before becoming VP of USA. Isn't that strange?
Haliburton gave Cheney $34,000,000,000 as a farewell gift when he left Haliburton. Isn't that strange?
Haliburton is in the pipeline construction business. Isn't that
strange?
There is $6 Trillion dollars worth of oil in the Caspian Sea area.
Isn't that strange?
The US government quietly announces Jan 31, 2002 we will support the construction of the Trans-Afghanistan pipeline. Isn't that strange?
President Musharref (Pakistan), and Karrzai, (Afghanistan - Unocal) announce agreement to build proposed gas pipeline from Central Asia to Pakistan via Afghanistan. (Irish Times 02/10/02) Isn't that strange?
"It's the Oil, Stupid!"
(And all the while we were told it was about terrorism and freedom)

How to Tell a Witch...
Villager: We have found a witch, may we burn her?
Crowd: BURN!! BUUUURN HER!
Bedevere: But how do you *know* she is a witch?
Villager: She looks like one!
Other Villagers: Yeah! She looks like one!!!
Bedevere: Bring her forward.
(a young woman is pushed through the crowd of villagers to the platform. She is dressed all in black, has a carrot tied around her face on top of her nose, and a black paper hat on her head. She talks funny because her nose is closed by the carrot.)
Witch: I'm not a witch, I'm not a witch!
Bedevere: Er,...but you are dressed as one.
Witch: THEY dressed me up like this.
Villagers: No! nooo! We didn't! We didn't!
Witch: And this isn't my nose, it's a false one!
(Bedevere lifts up the carrot to reveal the woman's real nose, which is in
fact rather small.)
Bedevere: Well?
One Villager: Well, we did do the nose.
Bedevere: The nose?
Villager: And the Hat. But she's a witch!
Villagers: Yeah! Burn her! Burn! Burn her!
B: Did you dress her up like this?
Villagers: NO! No, no, no, no, no, no...
One Villager: yes.
Villagers: yes. yes. yes. A bit. yes. a bit. a bit.
Another Villager: (hopefully) She has got a wart...
B: What makes you think she is a witch?
Villager: Well, She turned me into a newt!!
(pause)
Bedevere: a newt?
(long pause)
Villager: I got better...
Villagers: BURN HER anyway! BURN! BURN! BURN HER!
B: Quiet, quiet, quiet, QUIET! There are ways of *telling* whether she is a witch!
Villagers: Are there? What? Tell us, then! Tell us!
B: Tell me. What do you do with witches?
V: BUUUURN!!!!! BUUUUUURRRRNN!!!!! You BURN them!!!! BURN!!
B: And what do you burn apart from witches?
Villager: More Witches!
Other Villager: Wood.
B: So. Why do witches burn?
(long silence)
(shuffling of feet by the villagers)
Villager: (tentatively) Because they're made of.....wood?
B: Goooood!
Other Villagers: oh yeah... oh....
B: So. How do we tell whether she is made of wood?
One Villager: Build a bridge out of 'er!
B: Aah. But can you not also make bridges out of stone?
Villagers: oh yeah. oh. umm...
B: Does wood sink in water?
One Villager: No! No, no, it floats!
Other Villager: Throw her into the pond!
Villagers: yaaaaaa!
(when order is restored)
B: What also floats in water?
Villager: Bread!
Another Villager: Apples!
Another Villager: Uh...very small rocks!
Another Villager: Cider!
Another Villager: Uh...great gravy!
Another Villager: Cherries!
Another Villager: Mud!
Another Villager: Churches! Churches!
Another Villager: Lead! Lead!
King Arthur: A Duck!
Villagers: (in amazement) ooooooh!
B: exACTly!
B: (to a villager) So, *logically*...
Villager: (very slowly, with pauses between each word) If...she...weighs the same as a duck......she's made of wood.
B: and therefore...
(pause)
Villager: A Witch!
All Villagers: A WITCH!
(they do consequently weigh her across from a duck on Bedevere's largest scale, and she does indeed weigh the same as the duck.)
Witch: It's a fair cop.

Shahani--
Not strange at all; business as usual, as far as I'm concerned. I think it's mostly what all this Iraq stuff is about as well, and it's making me sick.

Big money and Oil play an important role in world affairs. Ultimately, it's all about power and money.
It is money and power that drives most political agenda. It would be naive for anyone to think the US or any other country is driven by altruism in its foreign and domestic agenda.
While the threat of terrorism and rogue regimes is present and needs immediate attention, the point being made here is that big oil companies and big defence contractors will stand to make lot of money with this Iraq war.
I'm buying some defence and oil stocks this week before they go thru the roof. I am not even remotely suggesting to anyone to do this because any stock investment is risky.
But I smell lot of money to be made this week. | |

There is nothing strange about it. It is all facts. People don't want to hear it, most call it a conspircy theory.

Exactly right, necromancer.
While I did have some idea of the GWB/Cheney oil connections I didn't think they are so deep. Still, like an iceberg, prolly 90% is still hidden.

it was closer to 34 Million. Still a little steep for a retirement package where nothing is expected in return. http://www.realchange.org/bushjr.htm
