Bum fights.
has anyone else seen this.
I found it funny when my friend described it but watching it seems to be somewhat morbid and cruel.
What did you think of it.
Basically it covers some street fights and it also covers paying drunks/whinos, crackheads, and bums being paid to perform stupid dangerous stunts and fights.
Some of the highlites include the following:
Bum hunter- croc hunter parrody where they capture and tag a bum
Ruffis stunt bum - Ruffis a whino bum is paid to get tattoo's and perform dangerous painful stunts.
A crack dealer- Explains his profession and his tremendous intellect.
A crack head - does crack and shows it's effect on the mind. This could be a PSA for kids though. No kid would do this stuff if they saw this guy.

I would feel ignorant, stupid, superficial and cruel to watch something like this.
Can’t imagine how ‘fun’ it would be making fun out of someone’s pain.

Well if they were desperate enough to do it then that's their problem. Besides several of those bums decided to sue the kids just to get even MORE money...

Mike, I fail to see how someone in a desperate situation is the one with the problem here, rather than the one(s) who are taking advantage of them in their desperation.
If by your measure of reasoning, its the fault of the desperate person for their situation, I hope you never find yourself in desperate need of anything....like, oh lets say a life saving operation after being in a car accident, or rescue from a fire or natural disaster.
Extreme examples, sure. But they were written to point out to you that not everyone always finds themselves in a desperate situation completely of their own making.
Even if the desperate situation IS of their own making, it doesn't mean taking advantage of those people is right or just in any way.

I think that to some extent all the negative comments are right here.
But I can't help but think there is a certain logic to pointing out to our kids what, drinking, drugs and such can do to an otherwise reasonable human being.
I kinda wonder if the world was not so accepting of such failings that more people would not avoid the riding the humanity slide down.
When you can show your kid that this man will run into a brick wall for a nickle just because he has reached the bottom of the drug ladder and his mind is destroyed. There has to be some kind of a lesson in it.

But epidemic, these dregs of society, these lumpen elements are like that because of certain causes. Not because they wanna have a great time.
There may be a lot of sociological and cultural and environmental factors for these unfortunate people to do what tehy do. A hopeless despair. A rejection by society. Ostrasized by family/friends. Whatever.
What we need to show kids is to avoid getting into such situations. Not what happens if they do and seek relief/refuge in drugs and crimes of violence.

We paid a bum in beer to do bike tricks for a few hours. We are really friendly with the bums around here, and MadDog, as he calls himself, was more than happy to do tricks for beer. If they want to do it for money, i say what's wrong with it.
