Iraq has until November 15 to agree to the resolution that would give inspectors searching for weapons of mass destruction unfettered access to sites across the country.

I personally don't think he will live up to unfettered inspections.
Which will give W the fight he's been iching for.

curious where public opinion here lies. We have such a broad collection of nations and people here.

I agree on other points but world opinion is against wars. Lots of anti-war demonstrations in Europe.

Even here, I doubt people want war. My take is GWB is trying to take an offensive posture in an effort to:

1) Force Saddam Hussain into submission
2) Address very compelling political reasons domestically (re election)
3) The truth about the extreme consequences of a war have finally sunk in and I doubt he will commit 250,000 troops.

Of course, this is my personal opinion garnered from all the international/domestic papers I scan daily.

Not saying GWB is chickening out. Just that he's become more mellow.

Mike, its not duplicate. That is a very old thread- more than one month. You have addressed the issue from the 11/15 UN deadline perspective and so its relevant. Also Saddam has called an emergence meeting of his parliament goons to discuss this.

All crap, of course, so lets see what actually happens on 15th.

Yes if we are completely prepared for the war effort.

Of course we do not have enough men and equipement at the moment so we will not go to war on the 15th.

During the following weeks after saddam tells us that we can not enter specific structures then we forced to take action. I would start with the correction method simmilar to training dogs.

If they do not listen you bomb the specific structure in question sort a like pullin on the leash. If it continues to be disobedient you keep the punishment happening. If the dog turns out to be crazy and can't be controlled and it poses a threat to you and your friends then you destroy it .

Epidemic- I like that. That is a great analogy. agree with you totally. This will not just go away, as evidenced by the last time this occured.It would be nice if we could use politcal pressure and sanctions to discourage this behavior, but such actions rarely work. Saddam had his chance to reform and stop his destructive ways. if we don't stop him now- we have another Castro on our hands only worse as Saddam is grooming his sons to take over, and wreck even more havoc. how long can we put up with this?
I am against war per say, but if he has weapons of mass destruction and the will and motive to use them then he needs to be removed. It would just be great if it could be done with one bullet.

I think Saddam will agree to let the inspectors over there to to their thing. But when they want to check out one of his hiding spots he will deny them access. Then he will take the whole lot of them hostage, Then what do we do?

I agree with Speedman. He will just delay things.

But, Mike, not saying that I endorse/support this mad dictator in any way, but you say that we will have another Castro on our hands and that we must stop him and his distructive ways.

Well, many people around the world think exactly that for big American business and strongarm tactics. And that American business creates havoc with their economies.

So, how should they retaliate?

Or shouldn't because the US is the "good guy"?
