What do ya do

Ok here is question for you all

You are sick as a dog with the flu / bronchitis (sp) and you are asked to come in for a job interview.

1) Do you set it up as soon as possible

or

2) explain to them that you are sick and would like to wait till you are feeling better.

This is my thinking go with #1

Reasons why
It shows that you are dedicated and that you will show up when you are sick.
The job might not be there when you are better
You are unemployed

What are your thoughts

And a great way to endear yourself to a future employer by infecting them and the other employees.

I would call them and ask if you could resechedule, if not then if you want the job, go as you are.

If your resume and or the application looks good, then they will want to talk with you.

Good Luck.

I'd explain the situation when you call to the schedule interview and let them decide
Let them know that you're fulling willing to come in early, but its up to them.

Yep I would too let them know that I was sick, and would be happy to come into the interview. They may be looking to hire someone right away, and want you to come in...

Good luck korgul! and get well soon!

Having done #1, DEFINITELY go with #2! The guys were very impressed by my sneezing every 2 minutes, blowing my nose every 30 seconds, and sniffling every 10. I also couldn't think all that well and missed several very easy coding questions.

An no, I didn't get the job.

Having been a hiring manager MANY times.... the correct answer IMHO are those offered by vass0922 and surreal.

As long as my time permitted, I would allow the reschedule rather than have you coming in sick. Its not like I want to be exposed if I don't need to be. If its a long term sickness of sorts (ie: more than a day or two, then perhaps your interviewer will appreciate your candor and simply do the interview over the phone till you are feeling better to meet in person)
