Pelosi poised to take House Dem Top Post

Nancy Pelosi, the ultimate California liberal, appears poised to take the vacant House Minority Leader slot vacated by Disk Gephart. So much for the idea that Democrats are reaching out to mainstream America...

Democrats, as an organized political entity, is in such disarray today (post Clinton) that they really are floundering.

Just needs decisive, strong leadership.

Don't see anyone in the horizon.

This is cool. She never speaks logically and only makes drippy emotional pleas. Looking forward to her making the Democrats look silly.

Well, this will just make American conservatives outnumber the American liberals in the polls once again in two years. He will make the liberals in America look like the raging Berkley-esque liberals the majority of politically knowledgable Americans have grown to fear and loath. And, this will cause disarray in the Dem party since the majority of them call themselves "moderate". I think you will see a remarkable amount of legislation being passed for this term and a tremendous amount of work being accomplished. Hopefully it will be for the good of the country. I think it will be. If the rest of the country thinks so, the economy will come back. (because you know that the American economy is driven by nothing more than public opinion. A good opinion makes people loosen their purse strings and break out the plastic creating greater earnings in companies and more investing...) So, hopefully this dreadful politician will actually help our country by driving politicians further left...

We can always dream...

Maybe they're not interested in reaching mainstream America any more.

I don't think they have been interested in reaching mainstream America for some time, but have been trying to mold the thought of Americans through subversive and biased media and emotion based ideals (versus logic and reason).

I think the Dems will have to lay in the weeds until the economy is more important to voters than homeland security. Maybe 2004 but more than likely 2008. If the economy isn't back on track by then the Dems will win big. The ball is in the Republican's court.

Democrats have made a devastating choice for the leader of the minority party.

They must keep here there she will bring victory to the democratic party. muwahahahaha.

An uber liberal lets swing the party the opposite derection from the winning party. I like the logic.

Pelosi is to liberalism as Muslim terrorists are to fanaticism. When I heard this, I thought "Praise the Lord and pass out the joints!". The Dems are self destructing and I say get out of the way and take video. Now all we need is Senators Byrd or Hillary to be Senate minority leader. It's ashame that the Dems don't have Senator Streisand to make their inevitable collapse as a meaningful political party even more entertaining. Hell, I live in California and these idiots here would elect her. Gov. Davis is floating a trial balloon to run for President. I think the trial balloon is really a trial condom because he wants to do to the nation what he's done to California.

The Republicans have a chance to make a positive difference in the next two years. I only hope that they have the juevos (a little Spanish lingo there) to have the courage of their convictions and not legislate by wetting their collective finger, sticking it in the air to see which way the wind is blowing, and checking the latest polls.

Finally, REAL tax relief. I kept track of all the taxes I paid in one month and it came out to 43%. And I only make $60K @ year.

Please, please, please put troops on the border. Need I elaborate?

Judges! Finally! (Rudy Giuliani for Attorney General - sorry Ashcroft!)

The vote last Tuesday was an affirmation of GW and a rejection of the Dems blocking everything the President was trying to do. He said he would not resort to partisan rhetoric in DC and he has kept that pledge. I'd go on, but I don't want to trash the thread.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
