Now I'm Pissed. How can they do this
As most of you know I went back to school to prepare for MCSA! I was having a blast! I have written and passed one of the tests already (210) and I'm planning to schedule 215 for next week.
I get to class yesterday just to find a bunch of notices plastered up on the front door and the doors were locked. They went bankrupt! Those stupid @$$^%*& had absolutely no concern for their dtudents or staff. After class was done on wednesday the owner filed for bankruptcy Wednesday night and just left everyone to find the locked doors. Lucky for me I don't loose any money but my employer does wich sux just as bad! How can they do this? No warning no nothing! I paid for a service, not only did I pay for a service but I paid for an education! This can't be right! There has got to be better way for the education system to filter out these idiots who take your money and then bail!
I am very agry right now. I would really love to find the guy who owned the college and... I'll just keep that to myself
UGH

Hmmm im of the impression that the bankrupty may have been going on for a while without anyone being informed that this could happen thus the loss of money, I would have your employer contact the better business burue (sp?) and also get a copy of the bankrupty judgement, I do believe those are public records ( i might be wrong tho) then contact one of the attorneys on the other side of the company and explain what has happened. Either that have your boss contact the company's attoreny to get some advise of how to handle this situation. Might be able to get a class action against the company for failure to inform of pending cancelations. I am not sure, I don't think if I was your boss i'd let this slide.
Are the reactions of the other students the same? I would imagine so. How many classes were being held and how many students per class?

That is very bad news!
I hope you guys(your boss, other students, whoever paid for the training) is able to get something back.
Has it been reported to the authorities?? This sounds so much more like a scam than a legit school. A legit school would have posted info/cancelled classes and returned the monies turned in to them.

How many classes were paid for that you had not yet attended?
Sounds like you were finished with that class, but just had to take the test for it so was wondering if more classes were pre-paid.

Don't know what the situation is like in Canada, but in the US there were a lot of for-profit schools (data-processing, trucking, hairdressing) set up to scoop in the money that the Government made available under various training-grant programs. Some of them were legit, some went bust (as yours did) after taking in the money and failing to deliver the training.

I had signed up online for a class at a training school for one of their NT classes. I been to their other classes and they had two or three training centers. I waited for that email confirmation to come back but it was for a class the next week. Their phone was always busy with no answer so I decided to trek on over there at lunch and find out what time I needed to show up for class. When I got there the place was completely empty and construction workers were doing rewiring. No one there knew what happened to the company. It reminded me of a "sting" operation where they set up a phoney storefront and disappear the next day. The place was cleaned out down to the sheetrock. They went bankrupt without notice.
Needless to say I had to find another place to take the class, good thing I didn't pay a deposit for that class.

I feel it Zenyo, that's exactly what happened to me. The school I was attending was a top rated tech school for 23 years. I was going for MCSE and CCNA. School shut it's doors in the middle of my first semester. Fortunately the government dropped all of it's loans towards me. Sallie Mae on the other hand wasn't so nice. I now have a $2,500 (thank something that that's all it is) loan to pay back for an education I didn't recieve, on top of the $2,500 I owe NMU for the education I didn't recieve there.
I'm not sure if you (or your) employer can get the money you paid back in this situation. I just found out I still owe Sallie Mae money and haven't really looked into all that much yet.
Good luck with everything.

We all had a meeting today
Two other colleges (CDI and Sprott Shaw) have decided to pipe up and help out the students. This is the scoop that Igot today. There is this company called ppsec - Private Post Secondary Education Commission of British Columbia. When these private schools start out they pay a bond to these ppsec people. I'm not sure how it happened but that bond has disapeared and there is no money to be had. What I heard is that this PPSEC orginization pulled the bond a couple of months ago and PPSEC or the owner didn't tell anyone.
The owner NWD just bailed. Waited until he knew all of the money was hidden well enough and then bang! Apperantly this guy even bought a house in his wifes name a couple of months ago...
What I' hearing is that there is nothing we can do, when a company goes bankrupt then there is pretty much nothing to be had. I let my CFO know nad she's going to look into it. She's probably going to try anf track down the receiver first.
My class wasn't done yet but pretty close. we were just finishing 2126 and about to start 2153, we had four more weeks to go. but there was a NISS class that just started last month, these poor guys payed 15g's up front...
Really sux dude!!
Sorry for the delayed response, it wass a busy afternoon.
