Sweet cucumbers, I woudl assume they are the same as sweet pickels, are quite different that dill pickels. I will eat a whole jar of dill pickels, but sweet ones dont quite suit my tastes Give em a taste, you'll taste the difference.

Well techically sweet pickles and dill pickles are minuture unmature cucumbers. They just can them differently to make one as sweet and one as dill.

just dill pickles sound better than dill cucumbers.

but pickles and cucumbers are the one and the same veggie.

I thought it also had to do with how they were made. Pickled stuff is made differently. Don't ask me how but my grandma could tell ya. Something to do it heat and pressure to preserve it longer.

The how come I like pickles (dill only) but I detest cucumbers?

Bhyeeeuck! Cucumbers: the ruiner of salads. If I ever get a fresh salad that has cucumbers in it...can't eat it. Even if I can easily pick the cucumbers out, it doesn't matter. If they've touched the lettuce, then the salad is ruined. Nasty stuff. What's wrong with you people?

There are lots of different pickled cucumbers: Kosher dills, both sour and half-sour (I prefer them sour); bread-and-butter pickles (never tried 'em); sweet gherkins (small cukes pickled with some sugar); cornichons (small cukes pickled with vinegar and tarragon); and on and on.
