Bug Spotting

(reposted from ROBERT X. CRINGELY: "Notes from the Field" )

Even the ads have bugs

In the new commercials for MSN 8, a guy dressed in a
Microsoft Butterfly costume drops out of a "cocoon." I
guess nobody at Microsoft, their ad agency, or any
company involved in the production of the commercial
knows that a butterfly doesn't emerge from a cocoon,
but a chrysalis -- moths come from cocoons. But then,
as the spy who picked up on this said, "this should
not be all that surprising since Microsoft seems to
have problems recognizing bugs when they see them."

Hehehehee...

Hey, no problem. All Micro$oft has to do is declare that cocoons are the new Industry Standard, and Mother Nature will go along with it.

Well...in version 1.4 of MSEarth, anyway.

...and I thought this thread would be about debugging computer propgrams, not real, live bugs!

Typical lack of research by M$ marketing ppl, though. You woulda thunk such a big corporation would have a good marketing section, wouldn't ya? Doesn't seem likely.

Prolly all their corporate action goes into their legal division.

To fix these kind of muffs.

Cheers
Mick

Actually, this sounds like a goof on the part of the Ad Agency that MS hired.

This A.A. must've made such a great presentation, that nobody noticed the inherent flaw in the program...

Hmmm....on second thought, Mick, I think your reasoning is sound.

Nawww... I think that they knew all along, but they figured that:

a) The average Microserf (Windows user) doesn't know what a chrysalis is.

b) Users Do know what a cocoon is, but don't know that cocoons only produce moths.

c) MS absolutely didn't want a moth as their new mascot.

d) So they "revised" biology to suit their evil and underhanded purposes.

e) And now millions of little kiddies will grow up thinking that cocoons produce butterflies.

f) MS doesn't give a flying effyouseekay about that.
