Spooky haunted woods in NC.
This saturday in NC we had our spook walk through the swamp.
about 30 kids showed this year (double last years count).
While the kids all arive there is food snacks and then a story written and read by my mom. The story describes the events of each scene and the horrors that happened on the cursed land they were about to traverse.
The event is on it's third year and just keeps growing.
We had about 8 or 9 spooks (aka parents who wanted to participate in costumed mayham)
The trail is .25 miles of winding path through a swamp with 50 displays of ghostly spookey stuff several pyrotechnic displays (of my own design), stereo wired through out the woods with awful sounds. A dimly lit path to help reduce tripping and falling into the swamp (you learn things from year to year i guess)Costumed characters included Skeleton man, 3 reaper types, stealthman kinda vietnamish, draculet, 3 witches of different flavors and me as jason merged with texas chainsaw massacre look.
I would disapear in the reeds in the shadow of a fallen log with the controls for the flashpots in my hand. Hiding in plain sight they would walk and marvel at the graveyard when I would set off the whooopflash devices filling the graveyard and woods with the smell of rotten eggs and dense smoke. The kids would jump back and from just behind them I would fire up the chainsaw. The kids fragmented into to two groups those who ran forward and those who were too afraid to pass. So off the pass I moved into position behind them and herded them forward.
I can't do justice to the whole thing but it was a ball. Only one spook got clocked by a tree as he tripped over his cape. Even at his fumble the kids screamed.
It is really fun to scare the crud out of the little rug rats. About half of them went through 5 times until the spooks got tired and cold.
