Does anyone here use Yahoo Email??

In a Magazine(CPU Page 93) I have just read about how Yahoo scans the email message and changes the words that Yahoo thinks is "subversive".

The article said that Yahoo consideres these words to be dirty words and must be replaced without infoming the email users of the change.
They are : eval, expression, mocha, javascript, jscript, bescript, and livescript.

Apparently the "script" words can be used in certain web attacks so Yahoo decided to replace them. So Mocha becomes expresso, They doent even consider checking the word boundaries, eval becomes reviewuate(evaluate) and Medieval becomes Medireview.

I wouldnt think that this type of censorship would be allowed to go on! I need to aks have any of the Yahoo users noticed anything out of the ordinary? Why would you allow Yahoo to censor your email like that??

I have not noticed anything of the sort.

Of course I have not been looking either.

As far as legal. Heck you bought into a free service. I guess they have the right to do what the heck they want. Not if this was a pay service then I would think not unless it was in the contract.

no1_vern: Perhaps this is going to be implemented in the future?

Maybe it was an idea of Yahoo's that the mag got wind of? And either hasn't been implemented yet, like CM said, or never will be.

I don't use Yahoo anymore because I kept recieving 30 porns a day.

hmm if its just an underscore tacked onto it, that would be ok.. I mean if it saves them from getting DDOS'd and keep customers from being able to access their services. I don't agree with changing the word outright as that could possibly change the meaning of the intended message.
Mocha?! interesting word for a 'trigger'
