comments please

I recently enrolled in a course at a comunity college. The course was originally instructor led at night .The course is Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 network environment. The course has been changed to a mixed media course meaning it is online but meets every other week to do labs. Herein is the problem. the lab is not setup with a server as the book says you must have in order to do the labs. The instructors have picked out labs that can be done on a stand alone computer and say don't worry about the rest. So there is no remote control, no remote installs, or really anything a system admin should know how to do. we pay the same price for this as for a real class including lab fees. Do you think we are getting what we paid for? The lab computer in default mode use a program called I node that resets everything to a basic configuration at reboot so you can't make any changes that require a reboot. We have to use a removable drive to make lasting changes. The problem is they will not work on your home computer so you can bring a problem to class for discussion and resolution. Do you think this meets the standards set by Microsoft for student to take the 70-218 certification test?short coments please with your certs if any or student status I will probally take this to the school next week for a resolution to this problem. thanks for your input. sorry to have taken up the bandwidth. I thought a serious request would be answered but I see I was wrong. I guess this board has deterioriated to a bunch of jerry springer devotees.

Hmm, I am not sure on that, if you have questions about that the place to really talk about that is in the Computer Science Department. They should be able to answer your questions regarding the class and its changes.

If your unable to get the instruction that is in your course outline and are unable to complete the tasks that are to be done then I would say you have grounds for a complaint. If you are unable to do remote work and practice remote system manipulation then your not getting what you paid for. In my opinion

you should make a big complaint and get your money back.

there are plenty of exercises which require a real win2000 network...a standalone machine won't do.

oh, you might be better off putting this thread in the 'certification and education' forum. i don't think a lot of hard-core tech professionals venture into the community boards...just don't have the time.

Huh? What the hell is that about? If these answers aren't serious enough for you, perhaps you should've browsed through the forums and noticed there's a specific forum for questions like this (Certification and Education forum).

Anyway, if they don't teach you what they're supposed to teach you, the course does not meet the standards and you're not getting what you paid for. Simple as that.

no kidding, why would anybody answer your post with attacks on the board such as that?
Why would we waste our time helping somebody who attacks us?
