I've always been a Liberal guy!
I'm an old dude now (58) Vietnam, blah, blah. But I've always had this basic problem about people "flooding in" over the borders! Am I an ass on this? If America is such a terrible place as Caddman, or Clubmed would have us believe, then why is everyone in hell and creation trying to get here???!!!
When I was in junior college, I drew up a paper in my History class; "We really don't need a DRAFT anymore!" I was wrong on so many points. We need a draft now! For many reasons. Our young people don't know what it means to serve their country, for one. Next, by giving them the opportunity to serve and then use a "GI Bill", they're giving back and gaining a valuable thing in return! Self respect! Every kid at the age of 18 or so should be subject to the draft, like it was in my day. I learned so very much when I went into the Army in 1965!! I learned most of all to love my country and to pay my dues, so to speak. So many new people here don't have a clue what it means to be here, other than to make "money", who gives a sh-t!!! Just my thoughts.

Caddman hates America? That's a new one on me. I think you're way off base there Gary.
And I know Clubmed has his issues with our foreign policy, but I also know he doesn't think this is a terrible place. Again you're way off base.
I'm almost scared to read the rest of your post because so far in the first paragraph you've been nothing but wrong.

So are you trying to add on to this thread? http://www.techimo.com/forum/t39985.html
The one that was modded a few minutes ago...I think you're ranting is a bit out of line. Also please post all of your thoughts in one thread, you're talking about the same issues in both threads.
Thank you.

| I agree. A recent study of high schoolers showed an immeasurable amount that said they'd go into the military. Very sad.

Martock,
I never meant for any of this to get out of hand. You're right about me posting too many threads!

Well I have to agree a little on the young folks being misdirected...we've got quite a few in our shop (I'm military BTW) that surely don't appreciate the fact that they get to wear the uniform every day.
To me it's a privilege, not a right...my father was a Ranger in Vietnam, I know what respect is...that man taught me well. Quote: Originally posted by glohworm Martock,

Maybe I should change my name to Martock, most people don't realize there's an 'h' at the end, not a 'k'. |

I've just got to slow down and be a little more considerate of others here! I love this forum and I've tried to be a good contributor in the past, especially to Clubmed and Caddman! Go figure. Nobody remembers my input in the past!

hrm im 19 i respect my country but don't feel the need to serve in it. So far i agree with out on your post. and from your last post
Question what does it mean to pay my dues?
not everyone is made for the military IMHO, where would our "freedom" be if we were forced into the draft? | |
