Prisoners in Canada win the right to vote
I was sent this in an email: Quote:
The Supreme Court of Canada has granted convicts in penitentiaries the
right to vote. In a 5-4 decision on Thursday, the court said a federal law
that punishes prisoners for their misconduct in society is wrongheaded and
more likely to undermine their respect for democracy than to enhance it.
| Does anyone have a link or know where I can find the story?
Thanks
Dave

Nope,
I am sure that the voting drives will be intense in those prisons on the liberals part.
Heck we can get a million votes and only visit 40 institutions. Heck I will bet that your more "liberal politicians" will make their rounds there.

Maine and Vermont allow prisoners to vote, and, until a constitutional amendment initiative to take away that right passed in November 2000, so did Massachusetts. This will probably not surprise either daveleau or Epidemic, who must imagine that all the New England states with the exception of New Hampshire are run by suicidal homosexual socialists.

i think that's cool
i don't know why but it sounds to me like a little help for the prisoners to intergrate them in the world if they came out someday!

| Mntsnow, sorry to leave you out; but daveleau and Epidemic were ahead of you. Consider yourself included. Oh, and of course, add "antiwar treehugger" to the list. |

I would say unAmerican socialist, actually....
I am glad that the rapists and murders have equal say in who passes law. For some reason it makes me feel all warm inside. You know it IS against their rights as human to be incarcerated. I think we should let them all out...and legalize drugs while we're at it too....
