Back from London
I'm back. I'd rant a bit about our nightmare trip home, but I caught so much flak on the other board for ranting I think I'll keep my mouth shut and live with it.
Not a bad trip overall. Awesome restaurants in London. We had Indian, Greek, Lebanese, Italian, Malaysian, and of course good old English pub fare. I was surprised at how many Brits drink American Budweiser. It's very popular over there.
So, did I miss anything?

Sorry folks. No pics. At home I have several photo albums and literally thousands of boxed photos. I used to be a major shutterbug and I have collected countless photos from any place I went. Now they're a collection of useless paper. I have since resisted the urge to take pictures of everything.
One of these days I'll pick up a digital camera. At least then I can print out only the really good pics.
On the other hand, I have tons of pics from everywhere else I've ever been. Any interest? For instance, I have with me now some pics of my platoon in Korea (1979) doing an aerial extraction. We tied ourselves to a rope hanging from a Huey and off we went. 600ft at 90 knots. Great fun.
Maybe I'll throw up a quick website with some random pics. I've been playing with a program which will allow users to upload pics directly from their PCs without using telnet. It's all web-based. If I can get it to work, I'll throw it open and see how long it takes to crash and burn.

Glad you had a nice time, and that you survived the high winds on Sunday! Know what you mean about photos, I too have boxes full of them and never really look at them, but they are a personal record of where you've been and I wouldn't dream of not going away without a camera!
So where did you visit in London?

We walked around Greenwich for a day. Very nice place to visit. I got to stand on the Prime Meridian. Folks along that line never have to set their PC clocks + or - hours. They're right at GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). The town below the observatory is really nice and the grounds around it have an incredible variety of trees. Lots of good shopping and restaurants. We did lots of book shopping and that took us to Piccadilly Square, Marble Arch, Notting Hill, and Oxford St. We inadvertently ended up near Big Ben one morning just as it was tolling the hour. Very cool. We also visitied the British Library and saw the Magna Carta and the Gutenburg bibles.
Outside London we went to Canterbury, York, and Harrogate. All very nice places. We had so many outstanding meals at various restaurants I lost count. I'm a big fan of good food and there's plenty to be had in England.
Next year there's a history festival at Cambridge. We may combine that with a trip to Germany/Austria. It'll be right in time for Oktoberfest.
