"RANT" Fast food and others

I just got home with some chinese food. And they have pulled one on me. The "quarts" of fried rice and lo-mein are now 26oz instead of 32oz. Same price though, of course. I thought the boxes looked smaller. Why you do me this way??

I go get a pound of coffee and now its 13oz instead of 16oz same price. Why you do me this way?

I get a box of cereal and instead of 22oz its 18oz same price of course.

How come hot dogs are 10 to pack but hot-dog buns come 8 to pack??

How come when you order a pizza and you ask can I have a small? "NO we don't have small" ok how about a medium? "No we don't have medium". All we have are Large, extra large and belly buster large". Oh ok Well can I have the small large one please.

Many more examples I just can't think of them right now.

Is a gallon of gas or milk gonna be "almost a gallon"?

I think campbells soup even shrunk their size a while back

I go get a pound of bacon and its now 12 oz's but you can get a pound pakage for more money. Same for deli meat.

Ketchup is now 28ozs also instead of 32ozs

A lot of yogurt now is 6ozs instead of 8ozs.

I guess you can tell I do the shopping in my house

Oh well I just wanted to get that off my chest.

You're preaching to the chior here.

I do most of the grocery shopping in our house, and the prices/repackaging is getting rediculous. Most of the 'New Improved' on the shelves is just an excuse to change the packaging (to a smaller size) while leaving the price unchanged.

Sort been waiting for the '2 liter' bottle to get a name (the biggy?) and then a couple monthes later start coming in a 1.75 liter size...

Check out the cheese slices, most advertise the one pound package, but only sell the nearly same price 12 oz package...

Have a couple groceries around here that love to advertise thier sales, especially the meat and produce depts... But notice that they post a small print disclaimer in the flier (limited quanities/no rain checks on sale items...). Got to the point that one store has gone to a full ad campaign "We stock our advertised products". duh, you sort of have to, don't you?

back to your regularly scheduled delusions...

I can remember several years ago, when CE was trying to pick up a couple of meat packs that were on sale, to be told they were out, and that he would have to wait untill the next shipment, which was several days away. So they gave him a raincheck. When he went back, he was told that that particular item was not a regular item they stocked, and they would not have it in again anytime soon.

This was not just a one time occurrence, this happened regularly.......... Not to mention, this was not just a 'mom and pop' type store...........

These are all marketing ploys to confuse you on price. Even though they have to mention the price per pound or gallon, most people just look at the price and not the size.

To make things even more confusing, similiar products (different brands though) have different unit prices making it difficult to compare.

But increasing price by reducing quantity is an old trick. And all companies resort to this.

yeah the .00009 cents on a gallon of gas should have been done away with years ago after gas went over $1.00 a gallon That .009 was way back when gas was 29cents . Yes shahani you are right it just makes me mad. Oh I just thought of another one. We use paper plates sometimes and they make them stick together so you end up using 2-3 plates unless you want to really try to pry them apart and end up tearing one of them in half. I like the 19,999.99 price on a car, can you just say $20,000.00 Another thing is it's not cheaper anymore to get the family size can jar or whatever. I've found most times now it is cheaper to get 2 smaller size. They got us all trained to get the "economy size" which now it is not.

am I weird or just cheap

I could probably go on for day's as more pop into mind.lol

How about highschool sports When I was in school you just went to the game now I gotta pay $5.00 to $8.00 per person to watch my girl dance for 10 minutes during halftime.
cheap cheap cheap is me.

You know what Crest toothpaste did in the 1960s? They increased the hole diameter by 20% so when you squeeze an inch of paste, you'll actually take out much more. No one noticed and the tube got over much faster.

Talk of conning customers.

I went in to the gas station to get a coke yesterday.
20 oz @99
1 liter@1.09
2liter@99
WTF??
Is it harder to put it in smaller bottles??
This is totally retarded to me, if you can sell me a 2 liter for a buck, then a 1 liter should be half of that, right?

Supply/demand. They know that most people that come into a gas station for a Coke aren't going home to stock up thier fridge, but are looking to drink it in the car. So, they charge more for the more popular sizes, and less for the size that sells not as fast. It's kinda hard to fit a 2 liter bottle into the cup holder.
