First Tupac, then Biggie, now Jam Master Jay. Wonder what was the cause behind this attack? I din't hear about any new rivalries, or perhaps this murder will spark off one .....

I heard a quick blurb that one of the guys was shot this morning, but didn't know who. Man, what a great loss, I really like run dmc but especially the scratchin/mixin. Imo there hasn't been a standout dj since, atleast in this genre (maybe some greyboy, he's a master). He'll definitely be missed.

An odd case, for sure. Not that I'm a huge fan, but they were really influential. AFAIK, they weren't a part the whole "gangsta" scene, so this is a bit more shocking than if it had've been some other rapper. I'll be interested to hear how this case pans out.

In the meantime, I feel bad for the guy's wife and kids.

uhhh cause he was the mixer for Run DMC who pioneered the way for other groups.

and they were really big when the came out.

Hoosier, this guy was a true revolutionist in the Rap genre. He's credited with bringing Rap to a more mainstream audience. I would go so far as to say that without him and his group, Rap wouldn't be where it was today...

Well it's sad when anyone dies...well ok not everyone, but most people...Run DMC were a HUGE part of my childhood (I'm 28) and they're not out badmouthing the other rap groups or pimpin' around the neighborhood with the West side/East side Bull$hit.

Run DMC and their songs were never about violence. The group promoted education and unity.

They were the good guys IMO.

The sad thing is one of the first things the cops started looking into was the so-called east/west coast war. These guys were never into that kind of stuff. One of the trio is an ordained minister.

May he RIP.

I hope they find the people who did this and fry them.
