Politics: Measure 23

Measure 23 is being proposed in Oregon (not sure about elsewere), the measure would create a government run health plan costing $2 billion. What are your opinions on this measure, would you vote yes or no ?

Note: Measure 23 would nearly DOUBLE Oregon debt.

I am so looking forward to this passing! Oregon will be the laughing stock of the US.

Socialized medicine... uh no thanks. Doctors are already jumping ship in the profession as it is...

What we really need is more doctors willing to accept the oregon health plan, as it is right now doctors are extremely limited to patients of who they can pick. granted the proposed measure states that we will be able to pick our doctors regardless, I don't see it happening cuz doctors ultimately still have the right to accept what kinds of insurance or not.

They need something more acceptable for doctors in order for them to give us better care. They get lots of problems getting paid on time and getting all that they are entitled to with thier patients' care. Also many doctors are reluctant to diagnosis a problem and tend to shove it under the rug knowing its gonna cost too much money.

That is how I see it. First we need to get more doctors willing to accept it before changing the already erroding current oregon health plan.

Remember, this is how i see it from my perpective.

I don't know much about it - but here in PA we've got a real crisis in that the trama Dr's can't afford their malpractice insurance rates - lots of ER's on the verge of closing.

Tort reform is the real answer, but trial lawyers will not tolerate that.

I voted no on the simple fact that the government can't deal with private enterprise issues. They will no doubt screw it up.

even in nations where socialized medicine is touted as being wonderful the systems are always on the edge of collapse.

I would vot no because:

a) We already have the most advanced heath care in the world

b) there are non-profit groups out there willing to help the needy, so that JohnQ doesn't happen

More info here. I doubt its gonna pass though. Anyway, I think its a terrible idea, one of the economy destroying type, Id rather have more taxes that this health plan in effect.
