Why can't Bush stay in the White House?!

Am I wrong in thinking that our President should spend more time in the "People's House", and less time flying around the country doing whatever he's doing? And who's paying for all these excurtions to all these states? Is the Republican party paying for all the AirForce 1 flights? Does anyone know how this works, accounting-wise? Please straighten me out on this.

And why is Cheney always hunkered down in some bomb shelter? This is the strangest duo we've ever had running our country, IMO!

Gary

Well the President has to be all over the place. If he's not giving one of these "important" lectures, he has to raise funds...

Blood_Luster,

I think Mike was being facetious on this point. The Pres. doesn't have to be all over the map, so to speak. He should stay at home, (White House), and keep his eye on the bouncing ball! The economy is going to hell and all he wants to do is bomb Iraq!

The economy already went down the crapper. Anyway, war is always an economy booster.

Well, he is a face to face dealer more than some of the other presidents. You ask who is paying?

Who paid for the USAF to cart Hillary on her shopping trips and Gore's family on their frequent excursions to Denver (often w/o Gore and often for day trips which caused 2 aircraft crews to be taken up) or to take and pick up Chelsea and her friends to fly them all over the US on weekends at college. I could go on and on about how much the Clintons STOLE from us in this area alone, but do not know what I can really share and what is considered inappropriate (aka priveleged info). Just know that they used more govt funds than the last 3 sitting Republican presidents combined! (And GW doesn't send aircraft for his family like Clinton...)

He is keeping you safe and the economy is driven by public opinion and a sound financial base, which Clinton botched up after trying to change Reaganomics which was the cause for the extreme upturn in our economy after the 60s and 70s.

Daveleau,

Good points! But my original question was/is, who's paying for all these trips? Clinton did it too, so I'm not dumping on Bush! This is our plane; Airforce 1!!! Why is it being used for Republican purposes???

It is being used for Presidential purposes not soley Republican purposes as you're implying. These trips, as all have been through the years, Democrat or Republican, are funded by government funds, ie, taxpayer money.

Well as history shows, it only works for a short time before something has to be done. If you only rely on a war then after the war what happens? It will just slide back into the crapper...

I thought Air Force 1 was originally paid for by the Dept. of Defense? I would presume they pay for the maintence, gas, etc. I saw a show on it....or am I confusing that show with something else....

Regardless, this isn't an issue that occupies my mind.

BTW, welcome back Mike.
