Prop 65 warning on firewood?

I normally buy firewood by the cord, but today I bought a couple small bundles from the Home Depot and was shocked to read a Prop 65 warning informing me that "Byproducts of combustion from this product are known to the State of California to cause cancer."

Darn! -just when you thought it was safe to snort wood ash

Now I ask you, is this taking things just a little too far?

Everything seems to "cause cancer", from incense to that new car smell. I don't even really care anymore.

Geeze I better not cook dinner in Cali, I'd get arrested for not labeling it!

aww... this identifies a BIGGER problem we are all going to face....

my first quip was gonna be... just burn it

That doesn't sound so good ifn it is "bad wood" that instead of enjoying and reaping the benefits from, it comes back at ya... sounds like a nightmare to me....

how about an outdoors fire...... then buy better next time...

I love having fires, it really makes moments turn into memories!

But Socal, you'll take away one of favorite sources of comic humor: Dumb ______. Just fill in the blank according to your mood. One of our old games was who could find the dumbest label while shopping.

I wonder if it's only store bought wood that you have to worry about? I mean, I cut cords upon cords every fall/winter for my mom. I better tell her to stay away from the furnace!!!

Uh oh, I wonder if sawdust is a group A?! I wonder if I could get out of cutting for this?!?
