New AlQaeda Threat - Railways Possibly Targeted

A new threat has been issued by the FBI. This time against the Railway sector....*sigh* .... when is the madness going to end?????? Damn Al-Qaeda!
I would avoid travelling by train in the near future...

I know the fear you must have but once again put it in perspective. the risks are low. So far every threat since 911 has just been al-qaeduh has been just an attempt to get our goat. We should increase security and get on with life. Don't avoid the travel that lets them win.

Maybe the chances are low.... but if I travel in a train, the possibility of me witnessing a terror attack is much more than if I did not travel in a train.
And IMO, letting them win would be me not getting to my destination out of fear..... I'll be driving !

Fair enough. But until the risk gets above driving in my car I will avoid changes to my life based on the actions of terrorists.

They would do more overall harm dropping railway bridges and collapsing tunnels than derailing a passenger train.

I believe that terrorists are not looking for millitary goals here. They are looking for fear. If you blow a rail train and kill 200 it has more impact than taking out the freight train taking 3 people.

Even thought the freight train might be a more financially damaging blow the passenger train will heart peoples hearts.

Thats all their doing now, is scaring us... I will use the train, and if possible, more then usal.

I mean, after all, what are you going to do -- walk, and provide an easy target for snipers? Take the bus? Fly?

Seriously, if you're not going to stay in bed with the covers over your head, you're probably safer taking the train than traveling any other way.

I dunno man, if this threat came from some crazy Islamic Radical on TV, I wouldn't care as much... but this came straight from the FBI...
