Party at 3am on a Monday
Well, it has happened again. ONCE AGAIN, the fools upstairs have called the cops on me. So at 3am on a monday night i get woken up by the cops beating on my door. Why you ask? Well apparantly i was having a party. Now, evidently someone forgot to inform me, as Jason and I had been asleep for some time already, but yes, our music (which amazingly wasnt even on) was disturbing the people upstairs, to the tune of party volume. Now, I am still tryign to figure out how silence even hints at a party, but evidently there is some logic. This is the third time in less than a month that the police have come by my apartment when i am doing nothing wrong. There is never any loud music playing or parties when the police come, but that is always the excuse. This is beginning to infuriate me, but i don't know exactly who is calling the police, so complaining to my realtor is difficult I think I am still going to give them a call tomorrow and let them know exactly what i think of this crap. I have to ge tup at 7:45 and the police come to my door at 3am to inform me that my grand silence is apparantly too loud for someone in the building. I guess ill try to get back to bed 7:45 will come early

what do the cops say when they see you just woke up?!
You'd think the cops are getting sick of the 'prank' phone calls. I'd think you could have the cops talk ot the people that make the phone calls and tell them to take a hike.
On the other hand... was the party at least worth being woken up for!? lol

How long have you lived there?
After your place has been visited by the police a certain number of times the landlord is justified in evicting you for creating a nusance.
So you are probably be being set up................

We moved in here Aug 10th. That's why im calling the landlord. They can kill our lease with three police visits, but i believe they have to be founded visits, ie citations issued, etc. So I will call and make sure they know that this is all BS, and that there has been zero founding to these claims. So hopefully things will turn out well and the realtor will know who is calling, (they have reported us to them also).

Personally Krohnjw, I would file a complaint against whoever is falsely reporting you to the police. (And let the landlord know that you are doing so.)
BTW, had there been a party and at what time did it end? If it ended at 2a.m., it's legite, but if it ended at 10p.m., it's false. I know in some cases, it takes the police 2-3 hours to respond to something like "a loud party" complaint. (You realize, the complaint may have come in while they were having coffee and donuts!)

You could consider a citizen complaint against the police if you believe these visitations are harassment by the police or being used to evict you. Something to look at: http://www.isp.state.il.us/dii00001.html |

Sharder, there was no party. There was a lot of sleeping and silence though. Hell, there wasnt even music on. I could understand if it was something that happened earlier and they were responding late, but there was no music earlier, no party, nothing.
Anyway, I called ther ealtor today and explained it to them, and also made sure the police were documenting that there was no violations. The realtor gets their information from the police ONLY if a citation is given, so i dont have to worry about that, I double checked with the landlord too. I talked with the police about it, whether it is just some disgruntled neighbor or they are identifying the wrong apartment all the time, but they have to wake me up, to make sure i didnt hide the party quick But I was happy that this cannot be used to terminate my lease.

Dude that is BS.
I didn't know those fsckers called the police last night.
Man, I have half a mind to walk up there and beat the heck outta those jerks.
He is telling the truth though, I went to SLEEP at 12:00. There was no music even on, let alone a party.
These idiots keep calling the cops. Jeez, I seriously think we should file a omplaint about false complaints

Next time it happens I'll have the police call in dispatch and file a complaint for harassment.....we'll see how they like that one, as they somehow finger us for every disturbance. Or maybe we should just start "busting their parties" on, say wednesday at 4am |
