Any thoughts on a cheap ISP?

Hi all,

I've been using NetZero for a year now and I've been getting timed off repeatedly for the last several months. To make matters worse, they've cheated me out of three months of prepaid service. I've been looking into other ISP alternatives, e.g. Access-4-cheap, budgetdialup, etc. Has anyone had good luck with their national dialup ISP's? All these new guys on the block are advertizing "unlimited access" for around $5.95 to $7.95. I'll have to make a decision soon because my service stops next month.

Thanks all.

None of the cheapies will suffice if you download MP3's

AFAIK the software to trick them into thinking you're surfing doesn't work correctly with modern ISP's ,, I could be wrong.

Otherwise, I'm happy with Bluelight/Yahoo/K-mart ISP

$8.95 mo for 'No-Banner' surfing, unlimited time.

As in all ISP's, Airlines and Attorneys they will "oversell" the service, in other words sell more bandwidth that they can provide, as do many expensive ISP's

They get around this by 'dealing' as in cards, by giving each subscriber a bit of data then a pause, then more, you can watch the icon in the task bar and see the even repetition.

BellSouth offers $12.95 for employees of major corproations in the SE USA

Thanks for your input Doc,

I'm not a major MP3 addict, otherwise I'd be paying for DSL or cable. I never had a problem with the time it takes to download upgrades, software, or the occasional MP3. What gripes me to the max is having NetZero time me out right in the middle of a download! I've tried "pingers" in the past, but they have no effect on NZ. I had to install a download mgr. in order to resume broken downloads, but it's all a great big pain in the arse! I probably spend about 40-50 hours on-line per month, which is really nothing compared to most. Anyway, thanks for posting.
