Hello all, I'm putting this in IMO Community and not in the game thread because it is the people in my point, not the game.
I just watched a thing on
CBS , it was a "48 hours Special" on people whom play games like EverQuest, and other Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games(MMORPG). Being a gamer, I took the show very personally, though I've never played EverQuest, I did play Anarchy Online, witch is like it. It had a part about how the game consumed a mans life and he shot himself apparently over the game, EverQuest. The mother of the man blames the game, because it was open on the computer when he shot himself, and he happened to be sitting at the computer, though the son had some mental disables, she blamed the game for her son's death. I was heavly in game a few months ago, and I would go a little— crazy for the games. I got myself grounded from my computer, because I stopped leaving the house to play Anarchy Online, and Diablo II. I had no end to witch I'd play the game, but now I realize what I did, and I've stopped(heh...) But the story really made me think. What is going to happen when games get more real, and YOU ARE THE CHACTER, you're not just playing it you're the living breathing character, I wonder if there will be an increase of suicides in the gaming community. I myself can rightfully say I WAS ADDICTED TO Diablo II(You know it's sad when you had three accounts with at least two level 99 on all three accounts...[all hack free]) and Anarchy Online. I flat-out quite gaming and started doing more things, like writing FICs and stuff, but now I've recently gotten back into gaming, but I now know what I'm capable of doing and can ponder on what happened to me, and my life. But my question is, how many of you can flat out say you had an addiction to a game? I know I'm not the only one, and if I am... I think I'ma go away... for a long time
