I am not a Dell customer

My friends I work with all ordered new Dells last year, my company purchased networked Dells.
I on the other hand, went to brick/mortar for my 1st pc I ever owned. Surfing the web/reading magazines/and Techimo/I had an urge to change my setup, little at a time. New midtower/different hdd/a little mod here and there. Its fun and I enjoy it. I have created some problems by tinkering, sometimes having to resort to tech shop for a quick fix.
The point is, I catch a lot of grief from my co=workers because of this. They on the other hand, just call Dell if they have a problem or breakdown.
Every morning at work, 1st thing they ask me, what did I break now. Why am I always changing/working on my computer. Doesnt ever seem to work.
Shoulda bought from Dell, then u wouldnt have these problems.
I guess I just dont know how to answer them with any wit or cool answers. I'm still tinkering/changing and learning every time I screw something up.
They think I am ditsy and not very pc savy because of my little interupts and tech shop visits.
Am I going about this the wrong way? Did any of you guys/gals ever have to listen to people like that?
Maybe I should take some pc training or something, but I like trying to learn this way!
Thanks for any opinions on this

Just dont tell them---keep a tight lip if it bothers you---but above all:

Simply ask for assistance here, you have the greatest resource for help at your fingertips---bonus---NO Dell dude involved...

Hey hukilau! I think it's much cooler what you are doing than what they did!

It is all about productivity. For work I buy Dells. It is simple, they are good computers, standardized and the service is excellent. I would not buy a Dell for home though. I build my own computers to customize to exactly what I want. Seeing as I am the only user at home, I only have to please myself and I can fix my own problems. My computers are rock stable, but each one is unique, which would add to costs and maintenance time when taking care of 80 computers at work.

baahh!! your co-workers probably dont know a motherboard froma a modem, like me when i first came here and i built a machine and am constantly playing with it and screwing it up. what do i do?? come on these boards and ask for help. you wont find a better bunch of understanding people(hey, they havent kicked me out yet!!)with more knowledge anywhere....so just ignore those folks at work and come here and and have a good time(learning something is just a coincidence :P)

plus...you get to tease the headless one dancing above me...nannynannnybobovassiewassie
