We're having an argument here!

OK you guys help!!!!
How many is a couple? How many is a few?

I say a couple is 2
I say a few is 3

More than that is several!

You guys all think I'm right, right?

So if I say "Give me a couple of minutes to think about it", does that literally mean "Give me exactly two minutes to think about it"?

Where I come from, "a couple" means a few, or several

More than four is a quadraplex.

More than 7 and a half is a centipede.

If you have that many, you van put them in an Avoirdupois. Or something.

An infinite number would be a Googol, unless you are like me and count to a Googol and one.

just here to help.

I've always known a couple as two, a few as three. But if someone said "Give me a couple minutes to <insert verb here>" I wouldn't assume he/she meant two minutes. Context, context, context!

Yes. But that is Left Coast time.

( Hint: Give yourself some wiggle room next time, and say, "give me an indeterminate number of minutes to think about it")

THAT will go over GREAT.
